Lackey Land Works was contracted by the Friends of the Winooski to complete site improvements including the removal and revegetation of a portion of the existing gravel access, parking area, and access road. The project also included modifications to the egress/curb cut onto VT-12, construction of three gravel truck-and-trailer parking spaces, and installation of a shallow stormwater swale, sedimentation basin with a hardened forebay, outlet structure, and stone spillways. Final site stabilization was completed with native plantings in accordance with a site-specific planting plan.
Lackey Land Works was contracted by the Cooperative Development Institute and DuBois & King to complete a wetland restoration project aimed at returning the site to its natural condition. The existing berm, encompassing approximately 1,220 square feet, was regraded back into the wetland, along with additional excavated soil piles located on the southern portion of the site. Where feasible, stony materials were separated from excavated wetland soils and repurposed to help form and stabilize streambanks. Following regrading, the wetland surface was intentionally roughened to create microtopography, enhancing ecological function. This process included strategically placing woody debris, dead root balls, and organic material throughout the site to support habitat diversity, improve water quality, and promote long-term soil stability and wetland health.
Lackey Land Works was contracted by the City of Montpelier to complete trail improvements, including the construction of three steel I-beam bridges and regrading approximately 1,200 feet of existing 6–8 foot-wide natural surface trail. The trail was reshaped to improve drainage by directing surface water into newly constructed ditches using on-site materials. Grade reversals were incorporated throughout the trail to slow and divert water, reducing erosion and improving long-term stability. Stone sourced from the site was utilized to construct check dams and reinforce drainage ditches, creating a durable and low-impact solution.
Eric Did a great job On time On budget They worked 10 days straight 10-12 hours per day to get the job done Very impressive.
They handled themselves in a professional manner. They explained the process of replacing the retaining wall and reinstalling the fence. They cleaned up the site and checked with us for any problems or concerns. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a contractor.
Eric and his team were very friendly, professional, and easy to work with. They demolished and removed a large trailer/work shed that was in our backyard. They came back once the trash containers were picked up to clean up the area, leaving it spotless. I would highly recommend their services to anyone in need of similar work.
Lackey Land Works responded promptly to my SOS, found the problem and proceeded to make a plan to fix my cracked footing drain. While excavation was happening he constructed a temporary fence for my dog to allow him access to the yard. I appreciated that so much! I highly recommended and would call on again!!
My basement was very wet and dirty. Eric took everything out: water cables, and much more. Then he installed pipes so we no longer have any water in the entire basement. Everything drains well, even to our pump. He brought in stones, put plastic over them, and closed everything. He worked hard in my basement, and you can't stand there. I felt sorry for him. And yet, he did a very, very good job. I highly recommend Eric.
Eric and the crew at Lackey Land Works do excellent work and are friendly, cheerful and respectful. They essentially rebuilt our yard—clearing brush, adding landscaping, drainage, berms and rebuilt the driveway—all on time and at fair prices.
